Home From Home Month - Newsletter

November is a celebration of the joy of staying in. The only problem is that staying in isn’t very social and SHOP’s all about the true meaning of being social. So, why not stay in, but stay in with SHOP this month? You can either move into the lounge, or attend some ‘on the way home events’ or an evening event. See the full weekly listings, below.

EVENTS IN SHOP

THROUGHOUT NOVEMBER
‘Stay-in with SHOP’
A SHOP Lounge Installation

All month at SHOP, the Lounge will be transformed into your dream Lounge, a Lounge where cosiness is king and where you’ll be so comfortable and so at home you might even let an accidental little phhoooot out. There will be an installation of: *woolly blankets *hot water bottles *slippers *hot drinks *games *extra books *relaxing essential oils and records playing softly in the background.

So instead of trudging glumly home to a ready-meal for one or an argument with your girlfriend/boyfriend/pet/gran/prisoner, come to SHOP and do exactly what you would do at home, but do it here instead.

Also throughout November, the Feed Me Box will be setup as usual, this month asking for contributions of homely recipes and nourishing warm dishes to share with other people. The recipes donated will be displayed in SHOP for everyone’s reference.

WEDNESDAY 3rd NOVEMBER
There will be a CineSHOP screening every Wednesday for Home from Home Month of lazy Sunday afternoon films, those films that seem to start just as the light is fading, ahhh.
CineSHOP 7.30pm – 9.30pm
Casablanca
Nothing more can be said about this classic melodrama from the peak of the Hollywood studio-film era. Hardened cynic Bogart softens when he meets old flame Bergman again; a refugee in neutral wartime Casablanca. Together they outwit the Germans and of course there's that famous song. Watch this classic or some day you'll regret it.

To coincide with Encounters Film Festival, the romantic classic to get everyone in a weepy mood. This movie shocked audiences back when it was first released, a sympathetic portrayal of two strangers who meet in a train station and have a non-consummated extramarital affair, was too strong for the times. Written by the equally shocking Noel Coward, this is a classic British melodrama
