April Show-ers!

April

April is full of exciting exhibitions and of course the Artisan Market is going to be a great Spring event - see below for details of these and remember to keep up-to-date by following us on Twitter.

However, we are also very excited about May (yeah, who knew we could plan that far ahead?!).  We, along with some of our Christmas Steps Arts Quarter neighbours, are organising the area's photography 'Night of the Year' as part of the Bristol Festival of Photography.  The event, similar to the same event two years ago which some of you may remember, is a parade of projections and photography on the Christmas Steps. There will an outdoor cinema and Bristol Cider Shop are providing a bar!

This is where you come in!  SHOP's part of the street party is to project Christmas Steps Arts Quarter images from within SHOP, and we were wondering if any of you had any you would like to donate?  Consider this a Christmas Steps picture amnesty! In addition, we would also like to have a small market amongst the fun of the street party, selling photography based goods and also a couple of food stalls. The stalls will be free and if you would like more information please get in touch.

On the same subject, the Editor of Venue has asked us if we can offer all our lovely SHOP Club members this: an opportunity to submit your photos for their monthly competition for non-professional snappers, where you can win £50! The details of which are here:  VENUE COMPETITION

 

 

EXHIBITIONS AHOY!

IAN PERRY - I AM NORMAL
2nd - 6th APRIL
12pm - 6pm
Ian Perry explores the idea of middle-England normality, most obviously expressed in the colour beige.
Ian will use the Arts Space to create a living room where cups of tea compete with hard-boiled eggs for attention.  Everything is bleached by post-war austerity and personalities muted by social expectations.

  16th - 21st APRIL
12pm - 6pm

Local Artist Stella Perrett shows a collection of work from throughout her life. Any artworks sold will go towards raising money for her chosen charity.

The Christmas Steps Arts Quarter Artisan Market is back for Easter and will feature an Easter Egg Hunt amongst the stalls!
Did you know, one year, the Steps were temporarily renamed the Easter Steps for a big street party!  We’re going to top that with a wonderful Easter Artisan Market.
