Exhibition: 'You deserve a break' by Olivia Tripp and Siana Caine

This week has seen the arts space turn into Olivia and Siana's diary of their summer as their exhibition attempts to document what they've both been up to throughout the past few months.

p.s There were lots of sweets. Rumours we scoffed them all are as yet unfounded.

If you didn't get to pop down in person, here's some pictures...

Christmas Artisan Market 2012 is GO!

TO GRAB A STALL FOR JUST £5 (OR £B5) DOWNLOAD YOUR FORM HERE AND RETURN IT WITH PAYMENT TO 'SHOP' AT 18/19 CHRISTMAS STEPS!

On Saturday 1st December, from 11am – 4pm, the beautiful and intriguing Christmas Steps Arts Quarter, in keeping with its reputation for independent artisan traders, is hosting it's annual alternative to high-street Christmas shopping, the  Christmas Artisan Market on the unique and festively name Christmas Steps themselves.
Come along for a lovely afternoon and experience the wonderful teetering charm of the artisans’ stalls cascading down the Steps, showcasing the high standard of beautiful crafts and wares – everything from sweets to frilly knickers, original art works and handmade instruments, providing you with the perfect opportunity to pick up local, handmade and fully unique Christmas presents.
There will be stacks of festive cheer with the famous Steps Christmas lights, as well as carols and mulled cider a-plenty and if that weren’t enough, there are many other artisan traders and businesses in this unique and beautiful site in Bristol’s city centre, as well as great places to eat and drink.

The 2011 Christmas Artisan Market was packed out!

Stalls were all over and around the Christmas Steps

When was the last time you took a walk down a different street?  The Christmas Steps Arts Quarter consists of eight unique streets in Bristol's old city, lined with independent shops, art galleries, bars, cafes and more than a few surprises, where artisans and creative traders work side by side to keep this diverse corner of Bristol as unusual as it's been throughout its long and intriguing history.

Octoberthday Newsletter!

Okay before you all clamber to send us lorry loads of prezzies, we've got a few things to share...

First, the picture above was from Come Dine WIth Me who used SHOP for some filming a couple of weeks ago - the Bristol episodes will be out in approximately four weeks.
In other news, we're signed up to that there Bristol Pound ting, if you've not heard then where have you been?!  Bristol now has it's own currecy: The Bristol Pound.  It is designed to encourage and assist people in keeping their money local, rather than squandering it on those multi-nationals who don't give a $%! about the little people, or about the Bristol community.  SHOP and many other indies across Bristol are accepting cash and text payments in £BP, find out more here

Another Bristol-based happening is the Bristol52 (@Bristol52), a Twitter account consisting of 52 Bristolians in control for a week each over over one year - all representing their take on the wonderful city that is Bristol.  You'll never guess whose scheduled for the week of 1st October to the 7th?  No, not Charlie Whitehead - us! SHOP!  Follow @Bristol52 to see *our* Bristol.

There's also lots happening in the Arts Space this month, with continuing exhibitions and events all the way til 2013!  More on them below...
